Subject: Cheerios/Health Kickoff

I don't know if you remember from the Nat'l Veteran Wheelchair Games, General Mills was
going to pick 12 veterans, and then narrow it down to 6 to be on the Cheerios boxes going to
the PX's and Canteen.  Well, I was selected as one of the 12 finalists and today I was notified
I made it as one of the 4 to be on the Cheerios box.  Actually, they are going to put all twelve
of us on the boxes, small head shots, because it was so hard to narrow it down, but 4 of us will
be on the back and they are making up baseball cards that we will sign.  The boxes won't be out
until March 2008, but General Mills wants to start a health walk/roll kickoff, starting in November
around Veterans Day.

They want it to be a 100 mile walk/roll.  Now don't panic, not 100 miles in one day.  It's 100 miles,
1 day at a time.  Starting with a 1 mile walk/roll at the VA's around the US. So walk/roll one mile a day for 100 days.  I will be at the kick off in Cleveland, as soon as I find out the date.  I'm not sure when Cleveland will start, Pam Ecker has to get in touch with Mr Monahue, the VA Director and find out when he wants to start this health walk/roll.

I am hoping Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton VA's will join in and get involved with this health walk/roll.  Wouldn't it be cool for the VA staff, veterans, family members, friends to say I walked a hundred miles.  Any way as soon as I get more info I will forward it.  I just wanted to give you all a heads up so it's not a totally last minute thing.  I wouldn't be able to be at Columbus, Cincinnati, or Dayton VA's on the kick off Day, but if you let me know if you would like me to roll with you guys let me know.

AGAIN,  I DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO START, BUT I KNOW GENERAL MILLS WANTED IT TO START AROUND VETERANS DAY.  IT WILL BE UP TO MR MONAHUE FOR CLEVELAND, AS SOON AS PAM GETS HOLD OF HIM.

As I get more info, I will forward it, but just wanted to give you a heads up.  More info to follow.

Enclosed is an email from the VA coordinator with General Mills.  Everyone is welcome to sign up for the Health Walk/Roll.  In fact, those of you in Ohio on the Ohio Buckeye Wheelchair Team it would look good for Our Team if you participated. It would really be great to have your support.  As you see, I don't know when the kick off will be in Cleveland, but they want everyone to sign up by Nov 30 if possible.  I'm sure since it hasn't even started yet you can sign up later, but here is the web site.  It is for all States, all different cities, etc.  For those of you that did not see the draft copy of the Cheerios Box design, here it is, in the attachment.  Thaks for your support.  Happy rollin/walking.  Remember we need to work off that Thanksgiving dinner and the up coming Holiday parties in Dec.  Have fun.  Thanks again, Holly and Spokes
